See below for some words from past participants on what they think of SILP!

“SILP is a program that is eye opening. SILP introduced me to the many aspects of international relations. It helped me to decide what I want to major in college. It showed me how international affairs are intertwined into many different aspects of work, and different industries and jobs. Though, I cannot stress enough, the relationships that it helped create and grow were absolutely amazing,” Connor

“The visits to embassies, the Capital Building, the State Department, and World Bank were truly great experiences. I learned more from the advisers, leaders, guest speakers, and Y-MUN alumni than I could ever have learned on my own. But most of all, I value the friendships and memories that I made. I occasionally look over the papers and notes from the program and can't help but smile as I think about one of the most amazing journeys I have ever experienced,” Megan

"Before SILP, I had always loved international activities such as business or politics but never believed it to be viable. After SILP, I realized that I could do something I love. It not only taught me new concepts regarding international politics and economics, but also taught me I could follow a dream and major in international business because there are jobs in it. It showed people with similar aspirations, allowing me to finally embrace my goals and have a certain goal to work towards. Now I am happily fixed with the goal of being an international business major and German minor,” Thomas

“I had an awesome time at SILP. I got a chance to meet so many great people who have the same interests as me. It was such a great experience because of the people who made it happen. The activities were awesome, I really recommend SILP to anyone. There are so many activities that can help pinpoint your exact interests. I loved SILP!” Rachel

"SILP is possibly the best hands-on experience you could ask for! Just going to our nation's capital and getting a great advantage on understand politics, economics, international relations, and public policy is what SILP emphasis on. I am very lucky to have chaperoned and worked with aspiring high school students or the "next generation" of our country because they all share a common goal: to help others and be an example to others. I encourage SILP to anyone who is interested in learning and impacting our world through public service!" Francis

“SILP was a great experience going into my freshman year of college as an International Studies major. It narrowed my focus and now I have a clearer idea of what I want to concentrate in and do post graduate school,” Lauren

“SILP was an amazing experience that challenged the way I view the world and instilled in me a passion for international relations. Having the opportunity to explore various major institutions such as the World Bank in addition to interacting and learning from civic leaders, the experience has expanded my worldview and showed me the importance of public service--something I hope to do in the future.” Richard
