- Contact Curtis Myers, the YMCA Model United
Nations Program Director via email at curtism@ymca-bc.org or
via phone (609) 351-8449 to inform him of
your intent to participate and begin to recruit
students for the program. We recommend
at least six (6) students to form a delegation.
- Submit the “Country
Request Form”along
with a delegate credential (Our permission slip –signed
by parent & advisor)
and $50 deposit per student. This indicates
the number of students that are committed
to participating in the program. The
MUN program staff will send your country & committee
assignments to you via email.
- Advisors should notify students of their selected
country(s) and assign them to one of the
committees designated for each country. ASSIGN
ONLY ONE STUDENT TO EACH ROLE WITHIN A COUNTRY. Please
see “Country Committee Assignment List” in
the Download Conference Forms Section for the committees
designated to each country.
Each country
(group of students) prepares a Country Data
Sheet
Two
page summary of general country information (for
own review – do not submit)
Each
student completes
“Position Paper” (Two
page summary of country’s position on the
committee topics)-this is forwarded to the program
office as Microsoft Word files and placed in folders
by committee. This should be sent via a CD-rom
or floppy disk to the program office. Specialized
committees (ICC; ICJ; NBC, HSC and press corps) have alternative assignments.
- Each delegation
should assign one (1) student per twenty (20)
participants to the youth secretariat. These students
serve as the delegation leader for your school/YMCA. They
must attend the youth secretariat orientation
meeting on September 23, 2007.
- Advisors should attend the Advisor’s Training/Orientation held at the Mt. Laurel YMCA on September 23, 2007.
- Advisors
complete Hotel Reservation Form and Delegation
Roster and submit along with position papers,
Secretary General Candidate Form, and program
fees by November 1st.
- The
advisor and all of the participating students
attend Mock Session on November 18th from 10:00-3:30
at The College of New Jersey. Please see the Mock Session Section for further information.
- Each student then
prepares a Draft
Resolution (document outlines the
salient facts a country needs in the conference
resolutions). All Draft Resolutions,
ICC/ICJ briefs and updated forms are due
by December 10, 2007.
